WBBL: Mooney's century sinks Renegades

In one of the most dominating batting performances in WBBL history, Perth Scorchers defeated the Melbourne Renegades by 40 runs. Batting first, Perth lined up a mammoth total of 194 and in reply,♉ Renegades could only get to 154.

Mooney and Devine determine the win

Throughout the Perth innings, it seemed like Mooney and Devine competed against each other rather than the Renegades. Both the batters put on a boundary galore with sometimes Devine hitting more ru♕ns while other times, Mooney clasping more. The two batters bundled up 165 runs in 16.2 Overs, to put it in context, that is 11 runs more than the Renegades made in their 20 Overs. Webb got the wicket of Devine but thaꦜt didn’t make much difference with Beth Mooney on a mission

Beth slammed a hundred to close out the innings and Scorchers made an imposing 194 runs. This is the second time a Scorchers batter has hit a century in the tournament with Devine clinching the previous one. Despite the carnage, Sophie Molineux gave just 29 runs in her four overs while Courtney Webb had im🐻pressive returns of one wicket for 33 runs in her four overs as the rest of the bowling got engulfed by Devine-Mooney charge.

Renegades batters had too much on the plate

The scoreboard pressure meant that the Melbourne team could not settle itself in during batting and had to go for big hits first-up. Nonetheless, Courtney Webb played a superb inning of 46 runs in 34 balls as she saw the rest of the batters faltering around her. Harmanpreet Kaur who played a huge role with her 70+ runs innings in the last game fell for just 13 runs in 17 balls against a tight Scorchers balling. Sophie Molineux closed out the game with 18-ball 31 runs kno꧙ck but it couldn’t even get the team close.

Lilly Mills took four wickets for 25 runs in three overs. Taneale Peschel had the most impressive economy-wise, spending just 16 runs in her three overs for a wicket. Marizanne Kapp also kept it tight yet again, c🅘onceding just 24 runs in her four. Alana King went for 34 runs in her four but also took the important wicket of Kཧaur.
