Evans Chebet, the 2022 New York City Marathon champion says he wants to recapture his crown, after bein💧g confirmed in the elite field for this year’s showpiece, scheduled for November 3.
Chebet believes he has recovered well from an injury that slowed him down🐻 at the start of the year just after his third place finish at the Boston Marathon in April.
I had a small injury during the race in Boston but I still tried and finished in third place. I feel I have recovered well and my training has gone on really smoothly. I am really confident that I can win New York again. It is one of my favourite cities to race in and I am preparing really well for it.
Chebet,35, has a storied marathon career, having won Boston tw🅠ic🍸e, finished third this year and also has a third place finish from Berlin.
In preparation for Nov๊ember’s New York Marathon, Chebet will compete at this weekend’s Great North Run in Great Britain, which he will use🍌 to test how well he has prepared.
It will be a good 10km course to run just to test myself in terms of speed and endurance. This will inform how I train for the next two months ahead of New York.
Also confirmed for New York is compatriots Albert K꧙orir, Abel Kipchumba and Geoffrey Kamworor.
