English journalist Rueben Carter from CBS News announced on social media that the UFC is developing a bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopez for UFC 312 in Australia.
The 35-ye෴ar-old Volkanovski last fought in February 2024 at UFC 298, where he was defeated by Ilia Topuria by knockout in the second round. In October 2023, at UFC 294, Alexander lost to Islam Makhachev by knockout in the first round. His record stands at 26 wins and four losses.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old Lopez last competed in the octagon in September 2024 at UF♉C 306, winning aga♉inst Brian Ortega by unanimous decision. His record includes 26 wins and six losses.
