Referee explains the reason for controversial judging decisions in UFC

Referee Douglas Crosby, who has gained notoriety for issuing controversial decisions, said that referees can make mistakes because there is very little time given to counting results between the rounds.

You have to assign a numerical value to what you just saw in an average of 15 seconds. Five seconds of that time goes into the notes, and you're left with 10 seconds to decide who took the round.

Recall that Crosby was the one to give Paddy Pimblett the win in his fight with Jared Gordon at UFC 282, which took place on December 11 in Las Vegas.
 
UFC Fight Night 216 took place on the night of December 18 in Las Vegas, headlined by a fight between two Americans, Jared Cannonier and Sean Strickland. That fight ended in favor of Cannonier by split decision of the judges.
 
In the co-main event, Arman Tsarukyan and Damir Ismagulov met. In this fight Tsarukyan won by unanimous decision of the judges.
