French UFC lightweight fighter Benoit Saint-Denis believes that he can secure a rematch with Dustin Poirier only if he can claim the championship title from Islam Makhachev.
Saint-Denis said in an interview with CBS Sports:
The only way I’ll get a shot with him [Dustin Poirier] again is [If I will] take a belt from Islam Makhachev. Then I’ll have some things that he hasn’t. But it’s the only way I see having the honor and privilege to fight him again. So I have to work my ass off to get there.
Saint-Denis and Poirier faced off in the octagon in March this year at UFC 29⛄9, where Benoit suffered a knockout loss in the second round.
Benoit’s next fight will be against Brazilian Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night 243 in Paris, France.🥂 His mixed martial arts record stands at 13 wins and two losses, with one fight ruled as a no contest.
