Malik Scott, trainer of former WBC champion Deontay Wilder, has stated that his fighter is not looking to retire from professional boxing.
Malik Scott for BoxingScene
He definitely wants to fight again, for sure. Some good things should be coming up in 2025. For now, Deontay has just been resting and focusing on family and his businesses. When you are in the second half of your career and in high-level fights against bigger guys, rest is just as important as ripping and running.
Wilder last fought against Zhilei Zhang in June of 🌱this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In that bout, which was stopped in the fifth round, Deontay suffered a knockout defeat. His professional boxing꧒ record stands at 43 wins (42 by knockout), four losses, and one draw.
