Promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that some time ago his client, former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua received a letter from Deontay Wilder's representatives that mentioned a $50 million fee.
Hearn told the Daily Mail:
To be honest with you, that was about three, four years ago. No one came to us with an offer. We received an email. I mean, me and Deontay are friends so I don't want to hard, but we received an email from a Hotmail address saying we will give you $50 million dollars for the fight. It was sent to Anthony Joshua. Directly. He was like 'what.'
Joshua will fight 🥃against Sweden's Otto Wallin on December 23 in Saudi Arabia. In August this year Anthony defeated Robert Helenius by knockout in the seventh round. Joshua has 26 wins (23 by knockout) and three losses.
Wilder will fight on December 23 in Saudi Arabia against Australian Joseph Parker. In October 2022 Deontay defeated Helenius by knockout in the first round. Wilder has 43 wins (42 by knockout), one draw and꧙ two🅷 losses.
