Overview of the Chinese national team at the 2024 Olympic Games
China's Olympic team has been a force to be reckoned with, consistently dominating in sports like Table Tennis, Badminton, Diving, and Gymnastics. We witnessed their prowess in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where they ranked second in the overall medal count and secured 89 medals. Their Table Tennis prowess is particularly awe-inspiring, as they’ve won 32 of 37 golds and 60 of 115 total medals since table tennis debuted in Seoul in 1988. The mixed doubles title claimed by Japan in Tokyo 2020 was Japan's first in table tennis and hindered China from claiming a fourth straight sweep at an Olympics. But China's success doesn't stop there, they've also made waves in Weightlifting, Shooting, and Taekwondo.
Table Tennis
China's table tennis team is going all out to win big at the 2024 Paris Olympics. For the first time, they've hired a dedicated coach just for the mixed doubles event. This shows how much the all-time leading squad wants to be the gold medalist in Table Tennis again. China has dominated table tennis at the Olympics, winning 32 out of 37 gold medals and 60 out of 115 total medals since the sport debuted in 1988. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Japan finally broke China's winning streak by taking home the mixed doubles title. This was Japan's first-ever table tennis gold medal, and it stopped China from sweeping all the gold for the fourth time in a row. Veteran coach Xiao Zhan will now lead the mixed doubles team in Paris 2024. China should get a minimum of 4 gold medals in the table tennis category as this has been their forte. In the 2020 Olympics, China got four gold medals (men and women categories), 3 silver medals (mixed doubles), and we believe they should get a minimum of four medals in the table tennis category. Ma Long who has won numerous medals for China has been selected to represent China once again in Paris. Ma Long has 3 gold Olympic medals (2012, 2016,2020) for China in men's teams and men's singles team and he will surely lead China to another gold medal at the Olympics. Wang Chugin, the top-ranked player in the ITTF world, should have an easy time at the Olympics.
- Bets: China to get a minimum of four medals in table tennis.
