Undisputed lightweight World Champion Devin Haney has announced his decision to move up a weight class because he believes he has cleared his division.
ESPN quotes Haney as saying:
I did everything at 135 that I could. The biggest fight for me was making that Gervont﷽a Davis fight, and his side showed no interest in making the fight. I've outgrown the division, so now I make my quest to 140 🎐to become a two-division champion. And after this fight, I look to become a three-division champion and move up to 147, God willing that I'm successful in this fight.
The 25-year-old Haney last stepped into th🐻e ring in May 2023 against Ukrainian Vasiliy Lomachenko. In this confrontation Devin won by unanimous decision of judges. He 𓃲has 30 wins (15 by knockout) and no losses.
